How to Play
✶
"Date Duet" - A collaborative card game for couples. Together, plan a day filled with activities and learn more about each other. The aim is to lock in a day of dates, enhancing your connection and mutual understanding.
Game Components:
Activity Decks: 50 unique Morning, Afternoon, and Night cards offer a variety of date ideas.
Connection Deck: 150 diverse cards ignite captivating conversations.
Coins & D4 Die: The set includes 24 gold coins and a specialized D4 die, each side marked with different activity time symbols.
Setup:
Create four card piles - three Activity decks for morning, afternoon, and night, plus one Connection card pile. Shuffle each deck thoroughly. Distribute coins to players and flip over the top card from each Activity deck, beginning with three activity cards in play.
Gameplay:
1. Choose Your Action: Each turn, perform ONLY one of three actions:
A. Draw a New Activity Card: First, roll the D4 die. Then, draw an Activity card corresponding to the symbol displayed on the top face of the die. If the die lands on the side that features all symbols, you have the option to choose any Activity card to turn over.
B. Begin Locking in an Activity: Spend 1 coin by placing it on the lock symbol of your chosen card. You need a total of 3 coins to fully lock in an activity. Coins are earned by correctly answering Connection Card questions, which will be detailed in the 'Connection Time' section. If the coin supply runs out, you can still acquire coins, but only by successfully unsettling your partner.
C. Unsettle Your Partner: Disrupt your partner's plans by removing one of their coins. You can then either place this stolen coin on a different activity card or keep it in your hand.
2. Keep up to three cards from each Activity deck on the table, allowing a maximum of 9 cards in play. If you draw a fourth card of the same type, you can choose which card to remove. If there's disagreement, default to removing the card with the fewest coins, or in a tie, the oldest card, returning it to its respective deck.
3. To secure an activity for a specific time of day, place 3 coins on its card. For instance, if you lock in a morning activity, the morning deck becomes unavailable. Should you roll 'morning' on the D4 afterwards, reroll until a different time slot is rolled.
4. End your turn with 'Connection Time': Draw a Connection card and pose its question to your partner. For example, ask, 'Who is my role model?' at your turn's end. Your partner answers at the beginning of their next turn. A correct response earns them an extra coin. Remember, even if the answer is wrong, it's a valuable chance to learn more about each other!
Repeat! Making sure to end each turn by drawing a Connection Card!
Game End:
The game concludes when you and your partner have locked in an activity for every time of day. Can't fit all activities into one day? Keep them for future dates! Embrace the journey of discovery and anticipation that "Date Duet" offers.
Remember to "Play. Connect. Date."
